How to Make 2-Ingredient Bagels

Technically this recipe requires more than two ingredients, considering you use an egg wash and the seasonings of your choise. We love everything bagel seasoning for its salty, garlicky crunch. But you could definitely go plain or create your own flavor. Adding some cinnamon and raisins to the dough can be lovely.

For the Bagels

1 cup self-rising flour—or make your own blend by mixing 1 cup flour, 1½ tsp. baking powder, and ½ tsp. salt.1 cup Greek yogurt, which can be regular or nonfat, although you’ll want a brand that produces a thick, strained texture, so you don’t end up with soggy dough.

For the Topping

1 egg, lightly beatenEverything bagel seasoning (or whatever seasonings you prefer)

Method

A bit chewier than the average bagel, this recipe’s not quite at bakery status. But the Greek yogurt gives the bagels a slightly tangy flavor, reminiscent of sourdough bread. Slicing them and giving them a few minutes in the toaster, then adding a schmear of cream cheese, is the perfect way to enjoy them with your morning coffee. After you master this easy recipe, move on to more bread recipes, or try your hand at focaccia art.
